Quadriplegic ‘Barbie’ spends £10k on make-up and clothes to look exactly like her favourite doll

Jasmin Britney cannot walk but that hasn’t stopped her living her life and spends hours copying her idol’s look

A woman paralysed from the neck down has turned herself into the world’s first quadriplegic Barbie and has spent £10,000 in an attempt to copy her favourite doll.

The 26-year-old, from Finland, can’t feel anything below the chin after her spinal cord was severed when she was hit by a car at the age of nine.

But Jasmin, who was born Katarina Koskiranta, wants to prove she can still live her life to the full.

She now dedicates her life – and her money – to dressing up like her idols: Barbie and Britney Spears, alongside tireless volunteering for charities and counselling groups.

From the blonde hair, to the sparkly dresses and the make-up , Jasmin goes all out with her look, but admits she sometimes still lacks confidence.

In her video, Jasmin says: “I’m very insecure about myself and everytime I promise to be in some magazine, I get really nervous and start to panic.

“I’m always worried that I’ve said something dumb in some article – or what if the pics of me turn out to be ugly?”

Jasmin was left paralysed when she was hit by a car in 1998. She claims the driver was texting at the time and only spotted her crossing the road when it was too late.

Her head was hit by the vehicle’s front bumper and she was flung 23 metres down the road.

After being taken to hospital , Jasmin was unconscious for 12 hours before waking up to discover she couldn’t move any body parts from her neck down.

Jasmin explains that since her recent interview with a Finnish newspaper went live she has received thousands of messages of support from viewers, including a teacher, who has been using Jasmin as an example when it comes to safety when crossing roads.

Jasmin says: “She [the teacher] told me that she has been using one of my old interviews as an example of what can happen if you aren’t careful while crossing the street.

“She also said that many of her students have now realised how dangerous it can be in traffic, and how badly you can get injured like I did.

“I’ve never even imagine that someone would use me as an example in school.”

But despite her horrific injuries, Jasmin is determined to remain positive: “I want to believe that everything in life happens for a reason.

“So I guess that means this had to happen to me although I can’t understand why.

“I just have to try living my life with this situation and if everything has a purpose, maybe I’ll get to know what it is someday.

“It would be really easy for me to just give up and be in despair and not care about anything. I could stay in bed all day and focus on being bitter and angry and give up.

“But I thought: why would I spend my life on hatred and giving up? It still wouldn’t give me my health back so being angry and full of hate wouldn’t make and sense.”
